My friend Tina is a teacher in Austin. She asked her sixth grade students to send me questions they had about astronomy, and I answer them on question. There were so many I had to split this into *5* parts! This is Part 2, and these are the questions they asked me: 1) Why is gravity different on the Moon? 2) Why are planets round? 3) How deep do the gases on Jupiter go? 4) Are Uranus and Neptune solid ice? 5) Why is Uranus tipped over? 6) Can a moon have a moon? 7) Can you touch a comet and land on an asteroid? 8) Does Titan smell like poop? [NOTE: I made an error in this one; Titan's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen, with about 1-2% methane. That's lot more than on Earth, but it's not "mostly methane" as I say in the video. Oops.] 9) Will my school get hit by a meteorite? 10) What would happen if you hit a golf ball on the Moon?
Most are volcanic in origin; some are due to meteoritic impacts.
As in the case of Mercury, all the craters are due to meteoritic impacts.
Because meteorites cannot survive passing through the atmosphere of Venus, all craters must be volcanic.
Venus has very few craters and their origin is not known.
Which one?
I am trying to figure out some possible career paths with the things I am most interested in. I have always loved astronomy and everything about it so I was wondering if there are some good (and fun) jobs I could get into. Preferably ones that pay good!
I am thinking about buying a used Saturn made in 2000. I got a carfax for it all ready and all is well, but I am just wondering, I have never owned a Saturn before. They have alwyas been Hondas and Jeeps, how have yuor experiences with a Saturn been? Especially a Saturn from 2000. I believe it’s a Saturn LS. Does the transmission work for a long time or go out after 100k miles? Any info is greately appreciated, thanks!
What would happen to people and the Earth if the sun collapsed, not exploded at some point in the near future? What would happen to the Sun and everything around it; would that be destroyed? Would the Sun become a black hole? Because the Earth orbits around the Sun because of the Sun’s gravity drawing it in, would the Earth fly off on a tangent into outer space? How would people die: cold, lack of light for photosynthesis/no food, disintegration of atmosphere, etc? How long would it take for people to die?
The distance from the Sun to Mars is 1.4 AU. The distance from the Sun to Jupiter is 4.48 AU. How manys times father away is Jupiter from the Sun than Mars?
HELP!
i read that mars could be heated with a mirror statite by reflecting light from the sun to the ice caps to release CO2 and just provide light and heat in general…
how long would it take to heat mars by a few temperatures?
or at least how long would it take to heat the ice caps by 4 kelvin?
im in gr7 an i have a scince project (in french..) an we have to make a food chain with 4 organisms + an energy source besides the sun then we have to explain why we chose that energy source instead of the sun..
